UPDATE SUNDAY....CRASH, BURN OR BREATHE........
Wow....I've been sitting here for some time now tears streaming down my face. I don't even know where they are coming from or why

Does this happen to anyone else? It's like they just keep falling with no emotion behind them.

I should be trying to get up, get dressed and get ready because I am sure they are going to be releasing Sole today from the hospital

Not that hes ready to come home or because I'm ready to bring him home.... just because I don't think there is anything else they can do for him there. His heart rate and blood pressure is still way to high but their going to put him on some Beta blockers today. They have put him on a solid food diet but he couldn't eat yesterday because every time he tried to swallow food he would just hiccup violently for hours

until they could give him an injection of something that would stop them. They said in time this "SHOULD" subside it is just from being crushed....BUT....what if it doesn't and what is he suppose to do until then for food?

He "NEEDS" to go to a Rehabilitating Center but he said emotionally he can't do it he "NEEDS" to be home.

Physical Therapy worked with him for hours yesterday and he did really well....now all I need is that 200lb+ 6ft
something man to come home with me to take care of him!

Or me

Okay there I go finally something that I found humor in.....maybe I can do this

. OH why did I just say that

....just received a "THE CALL"

"I did really good today AND I feel much better AND I ate without getting the hiccups AND NASCAR comes on at 1:00 AND I don't want to miss it"

"What do you mean your not ready?"

"What do you mean your crashing and burning?"

"You'll be okay, you'll see, their going to cut that cast off this week AND your going to get an air cast AND your going to feel so much better AND...."

AND...AND You are bringing that 200lb+ 6ft something Physical Therapy Tech home with you too right

......Al....put on the coffee huh? It's going to be a looooooooooooooooooooong day

Yeah......My thoughts exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE SATURDAY.......
He seems to be improving since they pulled the morphine. They just put him back on a liquid diet and think they may hear sounds in the intestines. He was throwing up late last night when he called me
but his heart rate was beginning to drop to about 122 down from the 145's that he was for the last 2 days. They said sometimes the morphine just starts paralyzing the organs. He has found some comfort in the "CHAIR" although it's a little more strain on the back it relieves the pressure hes feeling in his stomach. They were kind of running by him that he might want to consider going to Gaylord Rehabilitation Center when released, that he really needs a good 4 to 8 weeks of intensive rehabilitation that they don't think he can get at home. At first it was a flat out "NO" I'm going home, but I think after the last the few days he may be considering it. They have pulled the catheter again and the tube that was in his back drawing blood out of the back area. He said his hip or pelvic area where they removed bone is just as painful as his back right now. I'm about ready to colapse

I don't know what hurts more my arms or my one good leg. The traveling I have to do from part of the hospital to another seems like miles. I don't know how many times I have been saved from falling or stuck in situations that I just couldn't get out of.

I have met many new friends and have become part of the wheel chair posse that gathers out side for smokes. It is so funny to watch patient after patient escaping from their rooms johnny coats, bare butts and IV poles in tote to go outside.

Hospitals are NOT what they once were. Thanks again for the love, support, prayers and well wishes that come to me daily through the Stream and in PM's I wish I had time to respond but right now it's just not possible SOLE is just so DEMANDING

UPDATE: FRIDAY........
I'm just stopping home quick to grab a shower and change clothes. I spent the night up at the hospital. His heart rate and blood pressure went crazy and he was having difficulty breathing. They took him down did 2 CAT Scans and x-rays on lungs and intestines. They pulled the catheter yesterday morning but ended up having to straight cath him a few times during the day so they just put one in that they could leave. The CAT Scans all came back negatived for blockage so now we're waiting to see if the intestines possibly shut down. Within 12 hours they had him up and walking

and when I left they had him up and sitting in the "CHAIR"

and they just pulled his morphine drip .So I have to hurry to get back. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes....he send his love and thanks all.
UPDATE:Wednesday Night 11:30pm
Sole got out of surgery at 7:30 pm ....and out of recovery at 10:00. Though the damage and surgery was more extensive then planned the Orthopedic Surgeon was pleased at the outcome. Even the ribs had been torn away from the spine. He inserted screws and the cable consisting of the wiring. He also had to take bone from the pelvic area to fuse three of disks together.

Sole was in excruciating pain when they let me in to see him. He is on a morphine drip but it didn't look like it was giving him much relief. I was only allowed to stay a few minutes and I found myself having to take refuge to the nearest chair before I passed out

I promised him I would be up first thing in the morning. I'm just praying I will be strong enough to be there for him. Thank You for your prayers and well wishes. I know it was all of you that we drew strength from and your prayers that brought him through this. Without your prayers, support, strength and love I don't know how we would have made it. Thank you and love to you all! Please continue keep him in your thoughts and prayers that his pain will ease....Love you all.........Misty
Sole went to see an Orthopedic Specialist today. The doctor couldn't believe that the doctors that were treating him screwed up as bad as they did. He said they totally dropped the ball on this one

He told Sole he was lucky he wasn't paralyzed and if he ever wanted to walk or regain bodily functions he was to be admitted to the hospital immediately.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers
UPDATE: They have released Sole from the hospital

Although I thought they should have kept him until all bodily fuctions were working.

They insisted that with the anxiety he was experiencing it was hindering the healing process and that he would improve more quickly in a home setting.

Thank You so much for all your prayers and well wishes. There is no doubt in my mind that there is power in prayers and numbers. His Boss is still in ICU but we have been told he is stable. You'll never know how much your love and support has meant to me and how much strength I drew from each one of you.

I still believe with all my heart the waters of Stream holds magic for each us. Sole is still in a great deal of pain but as soon as he can sit for while he will be in touch. I know he is looking forward to some time off to spend here again with the friends hes made. Once again from the bottom of our hearts thank you, sending love to all! Misty and Sole

I just left Sole and although he is in a great deal of pain with fractured and compressed disks in his back his injuries are non life threatening. They are unsure of soft tissue, muscle or nerve damage at this time. His Boss is in intensive care when he suffered a heart attack after he thought Sole had been decapitated at the waist in the shaft. Please keep all in your thoughts and prayers.....Love Misty

Elevator mishap sends 5 to hospital
NOELLE FRAMPTON
Article Last Updated: 08/29/2008 02:03:39 AM EDT
— A 29-year-old man was trapped under a cargo elevator Thursday morning, a mishap that sent him and four other people to the hospital. "We're not sure how or why or what he was doing, but he got pinned by the dumbwaiter itself, which weighs about 1,000 pounds," said acting Capt. Christopher Zak, the Fire Department spokesman.
Two men, one of whom is 61 with a history of heart problems, "helped extricate the guy before we got there," Zak said. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene shortly after 9:10 a.m.
The 61-year-old was given advanced life support after he displayed possible heart attack symptoms, although Zak could not confirm if he actually had a heart attack.
The other man pulled a chest muscle, and later was taken to the hospital by private car.
A woman who witnessed the incident nearly fainted, while another woman suffered chest pains, he said. Both also went to the hospital.
No names were released immediately, but all of the patients are apparently Optical Polymers employees.
The 29-year-old suffered trauma injuries, mostly to his back, plus bruises and soft-tissue damage. The injuries appeared non-life-threatening, but he was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center for evaluation.
He was in the elevator shaft
when the cargo car pinned him on the second floor, Zak said.
"He was conscious, he was talking. He was in a good amount of pain," Zak said, adding that it remains to be seen what internal injuries the man may have suffered.
While paramedics treated the primary victim, the four other people "developed serious medical conditions" and also had to go to the hospital for treatment, Zak said.
Robert Kowalski, area director of the Bridgeport office of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, said his office is investigating the incident, but it was still unclear why the man was pinned.
"I did have a compliance officer out there," he said. "We're going to look into the causative factors, but at this point it's too soon to tell."
He declined to discuss the ongoing investigation further.
No one was available for comment.

Sending best wishes, positive energy and all around hugs. I hope the damage is minimal and he is on his way to a speedy recovery.
You've been through the mill, sounds like. Here's hoping you and Sole are back up and around soon.
Mister O
Your family have certainly been through a great deal recently. Please give Sole my best.
You have been through the mill!
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Huggggggggggggggggggz,
Taylor
I will Mouse.... he called about 4:00am in so much pain. He's so lucky to be alive...2 of the girls he worked with that were also taken to the hospital stopped in to see him tonight. One had just returned from pregnancy leave and she had been in the shaft just seconds before Sole got her out of there. She said God entered her body...she lifted the cargo car off him until his boss got a hold of it and she pulled him out unconscious. She said if he listened to his boss he would have been dead because he would have been totally in the shaft on the first floor. He should have never even been on the floor....but she said these are the kinds of things that take place every day with the company cutting corners
Seeing you again brings a smile. How have you been? Are you back? Later today I'll get around the Stream if all goes well. I don't know if you met Sole from the blog One In Six Billion hes my son. When he gets back I'll have to introduce you to him. Mr O think theres still time to get this election under way?
Thanks Chanda yeah we're on a roll here but thats the way it has always been... when it rains it pours and all things come in 3's. We've passed the 3's and are now rounding the 6's
ron
Please thank June and all who are keeping him in their prayers
I hope the hospital has a back-up power system.

Sorry Misty, I have not been on the Stream for 5 days, and did not know about Sole getting hurt.
You have been through so much lately, and then having Sole get so badly injured too I know has been very very hard on you.
I can only say Thank God that he will be OK.
I will be praying for him, and you too. I will pray that he has no serious injuries that will cause him to be handicapped or in long term pain. With the back injuries he has I know he is going to go through a lot for along time.
Take care of yourself too, and I will be around now for awhile. I hope no more company for a few months, so if you need me I will be here, just give me shout. I will keep stopping by to check on him, and you!
What an incredible story. It is amazing that one could survive an accident like that. I hope it works out well.
He came from an Orthopedic Specialist. He said they had totally dropped the ball and if he ever wanted to walk or regain bodily functions that he was to be admitted to a different hospital immediately.
Thank You... theres nothing worse the being stuck here unable to walk. If I had been on my feet and up that hospital when his doctors were there I feel this would have never happened.
My Sister broke her arm almost two months ago, and she still has not been able to find a surgeon to operate on it. I am sure it is already healed now in the wrong way!
I know you must be worried sick about him right now.
I wish there was something more I could do to help.
Like you I sit here helpless....feeling the same way. If I had been able to oversee what was happening this never would have taken place. I'll let you know as soon as there is any word. Holds you tightly it's going to be ok right?
I am sorry to hear that Sole had to go back to the hospital. Although it is disheartening, it is good that a doctor caught this problem now instead of it going undetected. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care, and keep us updated.
I Pray today finds you and your son doing Much Better in All Ways-be at Peace, my Friend, you are Not Alone...
In All My Prayers~

It kills me when you KNOW something's not right and the doctors won't listen or have some BS excuse
We'll all continue to keep him in our prayers.
